Dear Crystal,
After taking your class I had so much information to become a successful Hair/Makeup Artist that I was on fire! I told everyone how you inspired me to take my career to the next level, and how you could help them with their career as well. I told everyone how I got the opportunity to meet Monifa Mortis, Sam Fine, Oscar James, and Amanda from Artists by Timothy Priano agency. The experience was amazing. I felt on top of the world! Until…, I went home and began to Plan to Work.
As you know my journey was not easy; because I can be STUBBORN, at times. (I can say that now ☺) 10 years into my cosmetology career as a Brand Ambassador/Educator for two major cosmetic manufactures, traveling internationally mentoring stylists, I thought I understood it all. I solely relied on what the latest marketing trends are for the season, representing the manufactures brand, and creating what I was told. Initially after my PYP class, I would say to myself, “I am a highly respected professional in the cosmetics industry… Who is Crystal Wright to tell me I need to change my focus?” But at the end of the day when I looked at my career, I was not happy.
So I had to remind myself three things: #1: It was you, Vivian, who sought Crystal for her advice to help you achieve your career goals. #2. You are not where you truly want to be in your career. #3. Crystal must know what she is talking about, because she is surrounded by some of the best in the industry.
So I stopped being stubborn, and I opened my career guide and read every page from cover to cover without stopping. And then it began to hit me, Crystal was right. I needed to focus.
Focusing on me was the hardest thing for me to do. Like many artists coming out of the corporate world, I struggled with identifying my true inner passion––my niche. I wanted to do everything. I even tried to do everything. But when I looked at the end result, I realized, “I need to set some standards.”
So I went back to my guide the second time, but this time I began to plan the work. I updated my website; called photographers and agencies, began testing, and even got some work. Within one month of my truly applying myself, I began to see some progress. I immediately called you to tell you about my progress. I’m on fire again! During our conversation, you reminded me of one special thing: my brand. Again, I was faced with fear. But what was I afraid of?? So, I went to my guide the third time, and examined my notes. Then I realized if I truly wanted to develop a prosperous career, I needed to make some changes; and the fear I had was the fear to change.
Competition in this industry is steep! And I was struggling with what makes me different from the next HMUA. Again, and again your words came to me: FOCUS. You kept telling me to focus, focus, focus. I really did not understand what you were talking about. “I am focusing!” I kept asking myself, “What am I not focusing on?” The answer: ME. That is when I had an epiphany.
You did not really talk about 30 days much in our class (PYP 2010 NYC), but I bought the CD and book during the break. 30 days at 100%. Interesting title, I thought. But I never understood why I needed to be at 100%, until now. The career guide gives me the industry insight to develop my career. However 30 days at 100% gives me the guidance to overcome my fears, boost my confidence, and develop a plan to overcome my insecurities. You see, the truth is, I am not living at 100%. I’ll say I am about 65%. However, I realize now, that in order for me to make some significant changes in my career, I need to hold myself accountable for that 35% I was neglecting myself. We only get one life to live. Why should I not live my life to my fullest potential? I owe it to myself to give myself the best. And, if I don’t; who will?
Now, I understand why you were so frustrated with me. You could see my potential that I was neglecting. Wow! Thank you for staying persistently in my ass until I realized what I needed to do to achieve my goals. Thank you for being patient with me even when I wasn’t being patient with myself.
So, to answer my question, “Who is Crystal Wright to tell me I need to change, and Focus???” I can confidently say: Crystal Wright is an author/motivational speaker, who compassionately gives “tough love” and advice to help you realize your true potential and achieve your goals. She shares with you the keys to become successful, but it is up to you to open the doors.
Crystal, Thank you again for aiding me in unlocking the potential I kept inside. And as for my journey to become a Hair/Makeup Artist?… Well, Stay Tuned. You will see evidence of my work for years to come.
Sincerely,
Vivian Elam Hair/Makeup Artist www.vivianelam.com
PS: Crystal you are truly my friend. And I really appreciate your generosity. Only a friend would share so much of themselves to make me realize my true potentials. In honor of your effort, I strive to make sure that I pattern my life to reach my fullest potential with hopes that someday I’ll be able to return the generosity you shared with me.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond imagination. It is our light more than our darkness which scares us. We ask ourselves – who are we to be brilliant, beautiful, talented, and fabulous. But honestly, who are you to not be so?
You are a child of God, small games do not work in this world. For those around us to feel peace, it is not example to make ourselves small. We were born to express the glory of God that lives in us. It is not in some of us, it is in all of us. While we allow our light to shine, we unconsciously give permission for others to do the same. When we liberate ourselves from our own fears, simply our presence may liberate others.” - Marianne Williamson in Return to Love: Reflections on a Course in Miracles

To Whom It May Concern:
I first encountered the name “Crystal Wright” late in 2009. I heard about this force in the hair, makeup and styling industry that was “awesome,” “the truth,” and “game-changing.” So, needless to say, as an up- and-coming professional, my curiosity was piqued. The day I found my first Crystal Wright clip online, the change in my life began.
As we move forward to today, I am so very proud to say that I am a Crystal Wright Packaging Your Portfolio seminar graduate and I use her teachings on a daily basis. Better yet, through my experience with Ms. Wright, I have also gained a new prospective on my life outside of my career. Crystal Wright has the unique ability to not only offer her years and volumes of professional expertise in the industry to your growing knowledge but, more importantly, she gives you the tools to find, to learn and to process the information you encounter on your journey. She doesn’t approach you with lofty platitudes and academic theory that is beyond understanding and day-to-day application. No, instead she gives you the ability to step outside the moment and take a new perspective and conduct yourself and your business appropriately.
It takes a unique and gifted instructor and mentor to be able to not only give you the book knowledge but also the hard truth even when it might have an edge to it. It is that same unique gift that gains the confidence to whom it is given and gives them the ability to take it, absorb it and reflect the change it inspires. And there are countless artists and professionals that have brilliantly done just that under the tutelage of Crystal Wright. I am still growing in my career but one my proudest accomplishments is that I am in the company of those ranks and I strive to sparkle with the best in my field. And you better believe, I will also be one of those sharing the knowledge that Crystal Wright is “the truth”.
I am eternally grateful for that first set of computer clicks that led me to Crystal Wright. My artistry and my life have changed tremendously since that fateful day. I would strongly encourage anyone to take advantage of the opportunity to make the change and investment in your career and your life.
Sincerely Stephanie Scott Make-up Artist Atlanta, GA

Hi Crystal!
I hope this reaches you well. I just wanted to formally thank you for all of your support this past year. I was just sitting back reflecting on my career and personal accomplishments over the years and realized that this year has been the most rewarding. Packaging Your Portfolio NYC October 2010 accompanied with your book, 30 days at 100% changed my life. I was a 30-yr old makeup artist with a ton of experience, a marketing degree, jack of all trades and had nothing to show for it.
I have to admit, I was so close to not registering for your class. At the time I was working on a film in upstate NY that was kicking my behind and my money was a little funny. I kept thinking, "I'm in film and TV...I read her book back in the day....this class probably isn't for me... I don't want to be with an agency..", and quite frankly I was getting use to feeling stuck and scattered. Thank God my husband took matters into his own hands and while at work he called me and said, "Alright you're all set! Tell Crystal I said what's up!" I can now say––that gift from him meant more than any designer bag he had ever gotten me.
Your class provided us with an abundance of information in just 2 days!!!!! I was speechless! It exceeded my highest expectations. The cost of your class was PENNIES compared to what I walked away with. Not only did I learn how to properly present myself as an artist, not just through looking fly, but knowing the importance of having a strong website/social media/portfolio presence that appeals to my market.
You made us focus our attention on the details that set talented artists apart from the successful. Not to mention how PYP NYC Oct 2010 Ngozi Group you provided us with an amazing guest panel. Another bonus was having monthly follow-up calls with you. At times I felt like I was in college getting my marketing degree all over again. The fact that you held us accountable for the goals we set on a monthly basis was exactly what I needed to push me. It showed just how genuine you are.
So as I sit here almost a year later, now 31 yrs old, rubbing my 5 month old pregnant belly, imagining my "perfect post baby" career and working backwards like you taught me. I am so much more confident and clear with my accomplishments. There are NO MORE EXCUSES. I hold myself accountable, and take complete responsibility for my work. I appreciate you putting a corporate twist on our crazy artistic world. I'm so balanced now....and even more blessed to have met you!
Love,

Crystal Wright is a true blessing |

To whom it may concern,
I’d like to start out by saying that Crystal Wright is a true blessing. Prior to taking her Packaging Your Portfolio I had heard so many great things about not only her class but her in general. I knew I had to do whatever I could to take her class and to meet her. I met her at the NYC Makeup Show and she was very friendly and encouraging. I knew at that point I was going to take her class!!
I took Crystal’s class in August of 2011. The first day of the class I took notes but wanted to mentally take in as well what she was telling us. She was very informative. After day two of the class I left with re-assurance that I had made the right decision. The closing to her class wasn’t just about the Industry, she gave us insight on how she lives at 100%!! I loved it! I knew I too could live at 100%! Once I left the class I went home and I started to talk with my 11 year old daughter about living at 100% and gave her some of the encouraging words Crystal had given us. Her energy alone had somehow transferred through me and I went home and was such a happier person! I have Crystal to thank! I told many of my friends that they must take her class!! For those who are not even in the industry I spoke to them of how Crystal was such an inspirational speaker and I received more than what I paid for! Her words alone will forever stay in my heart!

BIG Dreams! |

I am a hair stylist and recently I attended Crystal Wright’s Packaging Your Portfolio Workshop in New York City.
Before this workshop I had big dreams. I thought about doing hair for print, TV, etc.. but I didn’t know the first thing to do to get there. A former PYP workshop grad recommended, “If you want to make those dreams come true you have to attend Crystal’s workshop.”
That workshop was the absolute most life changing experience. Not only are my dreams turning into a reality but also I have full control over my life. She not only told us what and how to reach our goals, but she continues to help us every day to reach them. She answers every email, or phone call with her honesty and her heart. She truly cares about every one of her students.
I say over and over that attending that workshop was the best thing I ever did for my career and my life. I also started her new book 30 days at 100 Percent: Changing Your Life 30 Days at a Time, and boy does it work. I have made so many changes in my life that make me wake up and smile and stay focused every day.
I can't put into words the impact her workshop had on my life, but I can tell you that I've never felt so sure of myself. I owe it all to Crystal Wright! Kristine Murillo Hair Stylist kristine@kristinemurillo.com
